Learn more about diabetes at www.bloodsugarsimplified.com Diabetes is a disease where your body does not produce enough insulin, or else the insulin it produces is not doing what it is supposed to do, which is to lower blood sugar. As a result, your blood sugar levels increase causing hyperglycemia.

Jordan Brown asked: i am not diabetic just using the glucose home test strip kit at the moment because i constantly feel hungry and faint if i dont eat. i have checked my glucose levels to see if theres somthing wrong
i tested it when i felt ok which was at 5:40pm and the reading was 6.3
again i tested it at 9pm few hours after my tea and it was 5.3
checked it when i woke up at 10.30am and it was 4.7
again checked it 1 hour later at 11.30 this was when i felt funny thought my blood sugar levels where low but again it was 4.9
do i still need to have a diabetes check or what? can i rely on this?
by the way i didnt go out and buy this test kit its a family friends he said i could use it to check if i was concererned and i guess it has to be accurate becuase he injects insulin so if the reading was off it could be fatal

G-RAD asked: I am a type 1 diabetic and it just S#*&s me when I hear. “Oh, he’s so brave dealing with his illness” or “It’s so sad that he has type 1 diabetes”. He lives a life of luxury. Has no problem getting medical suplies such as insulin, blood glucos sticks and strips, a pump ETC.
Please, I really wanna know what other type 1 diabetics think of this.
I know that anyone with diabetes is affected by it, I have the f@#*ing thing.
I AM ASKING TYPE 1 DIABETICS (I DON’T CARE IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WITH IT) IF THEY ARE TICKED BY THE AMOUNT OF ATTENTION THAT IS PAIDED TO HIS DIABETES.
Also, I have had type 1 diabetes since i was 13, now I am sixteen. I have raised over $1000 to JDRF (juvinille diabetes research foundation) by myself.

SoSo Dis asked:
I have been told that i have diabetes and i have trouble controlling it. So i have to keep checking several times a day so i run out of the strips real quick. The price per box are a little more than one $100 and i can go thru two three boxes a month. So i really need help since i’m single parent with 2children and having a hard time to begin with and now this to make things worst. I really love my children and i really need to take care of myself so ican be here to take care on them. My sugar level is always running anywhere between 400 to 525 so i’m at a very high risk on having a stroke, heart attack, and/or going into coma. So i have to keep checking so i can make sure i give myself my insulin to keep trying to bring it down. So if anybody knows where i can get some free help on supplies please help me. I do work and i can’t go to the free clinics for help on this, my children can’t even get any kind of assistance. Sorry i don’t mean to go on and on about this Thanks all!

Amy O asked:
I have type II diabetes and my insurance doesn’t pay hardly anything. My co pays are out the roof and we make too much money to get assistance. I haven’t been to a doctor in over two years or had any meds, or chem strips. My insurance company said I should give my self injections since insulin can be purchased over the counter, but I,ve only ever taken pills. Is there a safe guideline to do this? I’m having problems with my feet and I know my sugar is sky high. I really need advise.

Ally asked:
My husband has had diabetes since he was very young. He has been layed off work for over a year now and I am also unemployed. Our only income are his unemployment checks. He has no insurance and we cannot regularly afford insulin (he needs 2 vials a month), test strips, syringes or doctors visits and his health is rapidly deteriorating. We applyed for medi-cal but they said he makes too much on unemployment and gave us a share of cost. He is constantly looking for a job but the only ones he can get call backs for dont pay more than unemployment and wont pay the bills, he is getting sicker.
My question is, will my husband qualify for Social Security Disability or Social Security Insurance based on his type 1 diabetes? And if a person does qualify, does SSD or SSI cover medical needs?
We are young and invision so much better for ourselves than a life on social security but we have to do something to make it through this rough economy and lack of health care.

Dogbettor asked:
I’m a diabetic, type 2. I have been for years. I take medications and insulin. I sort of watch my diet and exercise little. I check my sugar levels only when I feel the number is at an extreme high or low. I can usually tell what my sugar is by the way I feel. I get my strips free from the VA so it’s not that I’m cheap. I feel best when my sugar is at 160 to 180, high by the standards. Once a doctor told me that he treats the patient, not the numbers. That makes sense. My body temperature runs normally about 97.5. I’m good there. If I were to take my temperature and get that reading I wouldn’t take a hot bath to raise the number. Why should I struggle to get sugar readings that are considered the norm. I’m a little short; 5”7″. Should I get stretched? I see all the products for sale and the ads on TV and think somebody is making a lot of money on the diabetes epidemic. Or am I completely ignorant of the facts?
Maybe I should add that I am 65 years old. I ride motorcycles now and for 45 years. Over the past 8 years I have had 10 cardiac stents implanted. I am out of shape but look younger than a 55 year old and I’m strong. I’ve thumbed my nose at most of the required routines that a diabetic is told to perform. My eyes are good. Neuropathy in my extremities is my biggest problem. I won’t eat rabbit food. And it’s too late to die young.

Melissa asked: I thought for diabetics to maintain good blood sugar levels, they take the right amount of insulin and exercise and stick with a good diet plan.
However, I thought ketones are an indication of not enough insulin. So how is it possible to have normal blood glucose levels and still have ketones?
I think someone once told me that even if you have good blood sugars, you can have ketones because you aren’t drinking enough water, but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. Is there any other reason?
