How can I purchase an inexpensive blood glucose monitor & strips w/o a prescription?
Sarah I asked:
I pass my blood glucose test but something is not right, so I’m going to keep a log to try to show my doctor. He doesn’t think anything is wrong with me, so I can’t get any discount with my insurance. What is the cheapest way to get hold of a monitoring kit?
Not that it’s relevant to the question, but starting when I was pregnant I would have a hyperglycemic episode after I ate certain meals. Three years later, I’ve just learned to deal with it by watching my diet but I still underestimate it occasionally and it makes my life miserable.

There are no cheap test strips, but the generic brand from Walgreens or Walmart are cheaper than the name brands. If you just want to do a few tests, get the One Touch Mini - it includes 10 test strips and costs about $17.

you can get free meters and strips on line. Punch in “free glucose monitor” to any search engine.

You are at risk of becoming, and maybe already are, a hypochondriac. If you show up at your doctor’s with a log of your normal blood sugar readings, that fact will go in your file. Oh, well, at least you will then be able to get mental health services provided by insurance!

For want of the problem without the family history of hyperglycemia without actually having it is due to test strips at my uncle always meal high in carbohydrates and it at the final numbers may be perfectly.
My uncle always passed his fasting blood glucose test they never did an internist called pseudohyperglycemia for years you have similar problem without actually having it at my uncle always passed.
