Deborah C asked:

glucose levels are normal. I just want to eat all the time? Isn’t this goofy? I thought that you lost weight on diabetes… I was on glipzide and metforman for a while… small doses.. but I just blew up in weight. It seems like if I don’t eat at all.. or very little, I feel really good mentally… not sluggish, so that said, what is up with my ravenous appetite… which is still here but was even worse on the the pills…

ps. my blood sugar was ranging in the 140’s to 200 range before I stopped the pills. So any advice on the munchy thing would be well accepted.

My doctor says my blood sugar is a little high. I want to buy a home blood glucose monitor, lancing device, strips and lancets. What are the most inexpensive? Have you ever gotten an inaccurate one? Know of anyone that’s ever been misdiagnosed?

Urine glucose strip: maximum reading on colormetric chart

Similar results have re-occurred three times since last week.

My dad is a diabetic. I decided to test my blood with his glucose machine. He did it twice and it worked. I tried 5 times and my blood is runny and even though I covered the test strip with it, the meter would not even calculate or register a number. The meter is obviously working since my dad did his twice and it was fine. What could be wrong with me?

I’d like to know if there are available for purchase anywhere in the world blood glucose meters which do NOT require test strips (e.g. using infrared to measure blood glucose levels).
Thanks for the info so far.

Mr. Peachy, while a pinprick is trivial, the cost for test strips isn’t. I have otherwise great health insurance at my workplace, but they don’t cover test strips; this amounts to a box of 50 test strips costing $50. A sweet deal for the test strip manufacturers.

Even if less accurate, I’d consider paying a large lump sum for a machine that isn’t tied to consumable test strips.

My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I want to keep an eye on his sugar level, because I have to give him insulin, I want to make sure it doesn’t go to low. I have a human blood glucose monitor but don’t know how to get a sample of blood from my dog. He was diagnosed three days ago and I am just searching for answers. He is only 7 months old and they think, the vets, that this is congenital. Any advise that you could give on diabetes in dogs would be helpful.

this is for a science fair project; i’m entering it under chemistry.

title: “can a blood glucose monitor determine sweetness?”

the strips CAN read drinks.i’ve tested gatorade dietcoke coke and apple juice so far

can you help me find more drinks that i can test?

what if situation:
what if you go into a bar/restaurant and order a drink. you’re trying to watch your sugar content in blood. you’re not sure if the drink has high or low sugar.
so you “bust out your blood glucose meter and test the drink”- quoted by a pharmacist that’s helping me with my project
please note: this is a SCIENCE FAIR project; nothing has to be accurate .

sorry if you see my questions many times on the yahoo answers

THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO ANSWER!! =D
