I’m sure my hamster as diabetes. She drinks excesivley, is loosing weight despite the fact her appetite has increased, is less active than normal and her eye sight does not seem to be as good as it use to be. However I used the Keto-Diastix reagent strips using her urine and both the Keytones and Glucose are Negative. Does this mean her body isn’t producing any sugar? So should i feed her a sugar diet? Any suggestions on what type of diet to feed her? Thank you!

hi everyone…i’m 37 weeks and 6 days pregnant..at my last doc appointment this past wed. i was dilated to 3 cm. already but hadn’t thinned out much..at my next doc appointment this coming wed. they are suppose to start stripping my membranes..i know what it is,,but on an average after this is done,if you are already dilating anyway, how long does it take for active labor to start typically? i’m really anxious to get things going,,i have borderline gestational diabetes, (my numbers were slightly elevated with the 3 hr glucose) and they say my baby boy is right at 7-8 lbs. already, and i would really like to get him out before he gets any bigger…thanks…

i mean very off readings! one min. it will be 94 then 30 seconds later it was 239? I just complained to abbott two days ago and they sent me new monitor and strips yet it is doing the same thing. Could i be doing something wrong?

The testing strips for glucose meters are so expensive. Sometimes I just can’t afford them and have to go without testing. Last night I found five boxes(25 discs all together) that belonged to my father. They expired a year and a half ago. The boxes are unopened but they were on a kitchen shelf, exposed to heat. Can I still use them? Will they give an accurate result? Thanks.

I am looking for a website for my mother that might help with purchasing her glucose strips and needles.

Does anybody know if there is an alternative to drinking the glucose for the 1 hour challenge test? I am very sensitive and do not react well to sugar and caffeine– I get stomach pains and heart palpitations. Is there a food or drink equivalent to getting the 50 grams of glucose that the doctors might suggest if you have a hard time with the drink? I’ve heard OJ or jelly beans, but I don’t know if it will yield the same results. Why can’t you just monitor your glucose levels with a diabetes monitor/test strips after eating a high-carb meal to see if it is high? Why is it necessary to have that drink?
